At First Galveston we believe that we are to live in this world in a particular way. We believe that we are to "Live God's word in His world." As a church we are convinced that what happens inside the walls of our building is meant to have an impact on the daily lives of our people as they live on Galveston Island. The belief in living the gospel carries with it tangible ministries that our church, and people are involved in on a daily basis as we seek "To do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God" (Micah 6:8).
First Galveston is a direct supporter and huge believer in the work of BSM on college campuses. Galveston County has over 11 thousand college students that we are responsible for. BSM is the vehicle we partner with to live out the gospel among those 11 thousand students. First serves lunches, partners on mission trips, and allows the use of our facilities to BSM for the purpose of reaching college students. If you want to make an impact on the lives of college students contact Nathan to find your opportunity.
Mission Galveston meets in the Fellowship Hall at First Galveston just about every Monday. This ministry directly impacts the lives of the less fortunate in the city of Galveston. The offer clothing, food, and spiritual counseling to each individual who passes through every Monday. The ministry of Mission Galveston makes a profound impact on the lives of the men and women it serves. The Mission seeks to make sure that no one goes without the basic necessities of food and clothing, and they recognize that while meeting physical needs there is an opportunity to meet spiritual ones as well.
CWJC is a social ministry that is deeply connected to First Galveston. CWJC takes women at challenging points in their lives and offers them a beacon of hope through life and job training skills. The training happens over the course of 8-12 weeks, and is repeated twice a year. It is an amazing opportunity to be involved in real gospel centered life transformation.
At the heart of many in the fellowship at First is a desire to be a light into some of the darkest places in the world. Members of First partner with other local churches, and ministers to minister to inmates in the Galveston county Jail on Monday nights. We also partner with Charios Prison Ministries to help put on events in state prisons in South East Texas. Visiting while in prison is deeply embedded in the DNA of our church.
