Most services are somewhere around an hour long and are not age-distinct.  Jay Carnes and our Organ and Praise Band

lead  us in hymns and today's worship music.  Our pastor, Bro. Eric Hodge, preaches the Word of God unashamedly.

Our Worship Service is full of vibrant friendly people longing for a deep connection with God and with you.

We hope you will join us.

First Time Here?

What to Expect

Welcome! It is a real joy for us to meet newcomers and to tell you about all the good things God is doing in our church family. For over 180 years now it has been our mission to live out  God's word. That means that no matter where you have come from and where you are on your spiritual journey, we want to come alongside to inspire, equip and encourage you to live out God's word.

Here's all you need to know before you show up for your first Sunday morning: Come as you are. Although our time will be taken up by singing, teaching and praying, you don't need any manual to figure out how to fit in. Jesus simply says: "Come to me" and we say the same. Just come as you are!

Worship

We believe that worshiping is central to the life of every believer. That is why Worship is one of the core values at First Baptist Galveston. It is something that every believer from the youngest child to the oldest adult is, and should be, engaged in. At First Baptist, we desire to create a vibrant atmosphere of worship where anyone who attends can connect in a deep, meaningful, and spiritual way with God and with one another.

We currently offer two Sunday worship activities.

9:15 a.m.     Bible Study (small groups)
Located in the Classroom Building north of the Sanctuary and in the Sanctuary Building.

Our greeters at the door will help you find a group to join. There are many groups and they can vary according to age, sex, and marital status.

    10:30 p.m.    Worship
Our worship begins with an exciting blend of favorite hymns and contemporary Christian music, and continues with preaching of God's Word.

preschool & children's ministry

Our Preschool & Children's Ministry is led by Regina Hodge and skilled volunteers. She is college educated and seminary trained at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, alongside her husband, Bro. Eric Hodge, who is our Senior Pastor.

From Babies through Grade 6, our preschoolers and children are engaged in Bible Study, other fun activities, and opportunities for service. Through all of these activities, they are learning what it means to follow Jesus as Savior and Lord and then making that decision public as the Lord leads them.
